Rather than portraying the city through its familiar landmarks, the work looks at New York through its inhabitants—their individuality, style, contradictions and ways of occupying public space. It is a visual portrait of a city shaped by countless identities: restless and theatrical, lonely and connected, harsh and deeply alive.

The illustrations bring together observed details, personal impressions and fragments of urban culture to capture not one New York, but many overlapping versions of it.
